On July 1, 2013, Bishop Alexander, locum tenens of the Diocese of Chicago and the Midwest, gave me his blessing to serve the Church as an iconographer. So, after several years of studying iconography, and painting icons which I gave away, I've officially opened a studio and am now taking commissions.
Icon studios are often placed under the patronage of a saint. After much thought, I've given the studio the name "Steadfast Protectress of Christians", one of the titles of Mary, the Theotokos, the Birthgiver of God. Who better to entrust with the patronage of this holy work than She who, because of her unique role in the salvation of the world, is more honorable than the cherubim, and more glorious beyond compare than the seraphim?

The name of the studio comes from a hymn known to most Orthodox Christians;
"Steadfast Protectress of Christians, Constant Advocate before the Creator, despise not the entreating cries of us sinners, but come speedily to help those who call on you in faith. Hasten to hear our petitions, O Theotokos, for you always protect those who honor you."
